Jonathan J. Judge, President of the Brooklyn Young Republican Club, and Samuel M. Rivera, Vice President of the Brooklyn Young Republican Club, have issued the following joint statement regarding the murder of Marcelo Lucero:

"On behalf of the Brooklyn Young Republican Club, we offer our sincerest condolences to Marcelo Lucero’s family during this tragic time.  We firmly believe that everyone in America should be able to live free from violence, fear and injustice.

"Since our party’s founding, Republicans have stood up for fundamental civil rights and have vigorously pursued them for well over a century.  We are the party of Lincoln, the party that created the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments.  We are the party of Thomas Dewey and Fiorello LaGuardia.  We are the party of humble immigrants who strive to become proud Americans.

"In this spirit, the Brooklyn Young Republican Club is deeply distraught by this unspeakable act of violence and we seek swift and resolute justice for his family.  We cannot tolerate these hateful acts in any neighborhood in our state or our nation.
 
"While we continue to seek a solution to our country’s immigration issues that respects the will of the people, we staunchly defend the dignity and rights of all people within our borders.
 
"As proud Americans of immigrant ancestors ourselves, we ultimately believe that no person should ever be harmed for so admiring the American dream that they strive to become an American at any cost."

Jonathan J. Judge, el Presidente del Club de Jóvenes Republicanos de Brooklyn, y Samuel M. Rivera, el Vicepresidente del Club de Jóvenes Republicanos de Brooklyn, han presentado la siguiente declaración sobre la muerte de Marcelo Lucero:

"De parte del Club de Jóvenes Republicanos de Brooklyn, le ofrecemos nuestras condolencias a la familia de Marcelo Lucero durante este tiempo tan triste. Nosotros creemos que todos tienen el derecho de vivir libre de violencia, miedo y injusticia.

"Desde el principio de nuestro partido, Republicanos siempre han luchado contra las fuerzas del racismo y han sido proponentes de los derechos civiles por mas de un siglo. Nosotros somos el partido de Abraham Lincoln, el partido que creó las enmiendas trece, catorce y quince de la constitutición de EE.UU.  Somos el partido de Thomas Dewey y Fiorello LaGuardia. Sobre todo, somos el partido de inmigrantes humildes que aspiran a ser americanos honrados.

Con ese mismo espíritu, el Club de Jóvenes Republicanos de Brooklyn está profundamente desconcertado por este acto de violencia y buscamos una resolución justa para su familia. Nosotros no podemos tolerar estas acciones tan detestables en los barrios de nuestro estado o en nuestra nación.

"Mientras seguimos buscándole una solución al problema inmigratorio de nuestro país, lo hacemos en una manera que defiende la dignidad y los derechos de todos aquellos que viven adentro de nuestra comunidad.
